Learn how Aveng Trident Steel discovered standard functionality within core ECC to target improvement in Inventory Optimisation, process integration, and process performance analysis. Hear how daily routines began to break down the functional silos and challenge activities that were happening outside of the system, typically in spreadsheets.

What I Learnt Cycling Through Every Country in Africa
On the 30th of June 2013, after selling everything he owned, 20kg overweight, alone and unaided, and with no ‘adventure’ experience, Ron Rutland left Cape Town Stadium on his bicycle to fulfil a lifelong dream and embark on a world first - a single continuous journey through every country on mainland Africa. 42,000km, 841 days and 75 countries later, Ron arrived in Brighton, UK on the 17th of September 2015 in time to watch Japan beat the Springboks in their opening game of the Rugby World Cup… a historic end to a historic journey! In his uniquely self-deprecating and humorous manner, Ron has inspired and motivated audiences in South Africa, and around the world, with his tales from the road, and what it took for the most ordinary and unlikely person to achieve something quite extraordinary. Drawing on his experiences from some of the most inhospitable environments on the planet, Ron shares the tangible ‘real life’ lessons he learnt chasing, and ultimately, reaching the most audacious goal imaginable.

Keeping Your SAP Master Data Honest is More About People & Less About Systems
Will the SAP customer with accurate material master data please stand up!? Material master data, without a doubt, is the bane of the existence of any SAP enabled supply chain. This is not news to anyone in a supply chain leadership role, with most companies despairingly accepting that master data always has, and always will be an insurmountable problem. This thinking is further entrenched by several failed attempts to fix material master data. There is a solution, and supply chain needs to drive it. You already own a set of standard SAP tools that will enable you to master your master data challenges once and for all. Procurement managers, buyers and their internal customers need to learn how to use this standard SAP functionality to identify the data inaccuracies, establish master data ownership, fix the inaccuracies and monitor the effectiveness of the updated master data. This session will take you through a proven methodology showing you how to use standard SAP tools to keep your master data honest.

A Journey to S/4HANA With Specific Focus on EAM & Materials Management Integration
And so it begins, Incitec Pivot Ltd (IPL) has begun the journey to move onto the S/4HANA platform where we will be taking two separate instances of ECC6 and merging them onto one instance of S/4HANA. IPL has been on SAP for 22 years with varying levels of use and few standard processes so I will take this opportunity to explain the learnings and insights of our journey with specific focus on EAM and materials management. S/4HANA is a big change from ECC6 and I will look to provide as much knowledge sharing as possible. Go-Live date is not set yet but will be approximately March 2019.
Without Any Specific MRO Optimisation Tools How Do You Improve?
When you arrive at a company that has over $80m in MRO inventory, has been on SAP for 20 years, and has never done any more than use safety stock as a re-order point…where do you begin? The answer is simple yet complicated because the first thing that must be addressed is to fully understand the need and understanding of this problem by the Executive Team. Once you have this (and their support), turn around and go straight to the very beginning. This presentation will explain how to build a program to begin optimizing your MRO materials when the only tool that you have is SAP (which is a good start, but not enough). This includes the development of a stocking strategy, master data definition, demand management, MRP exception message management and supply continuity. This will help you to understand and utilize the SAP tool to help clarify your needs moving forward.

A Dynamic End-to-End Supply Chain Decision Framework for MRO Environments
In today’s society, we heavily rely on functions such as public transport, manufacturing and mining. The assets related to these functions have to operate at their optimum and hence adequate maintenance is needed. Spare parts and consumables are critical to maintenance. The spares supply chains are complex due to the often unplanned demand on the one hand and the remote/overseas supply on the other hand. Supply Chain Excellence is only possible by connecting decision making from strategic level until operational level across the entire supply chain. We present a supply chain wide framework that facilitates decision making and to connect the dots from fundamental strategic choices until operational decision making in daily practice.

Standard MRP with GUIXT & Excel for MRO Materials
The City of Cape Town has 52 stores, spread over 2 445 km², containing 17 000 different items for maintenance and construction. The fact that each store has an MRP controller doing his own thing, resulting in low turnover combined with high stock-outs, was becoming more and more of a problem. Learn how the City of Cape Town managed to standardise an MRP methodology, using simple tools, at no extra cost.
